One of the joys of being a photographer is the opportunity to create. I was recently commissioned to create an 11foot image for the conference room of a biotech company in Torrey Pines. The parameters were to create something relevant to the business, but give it a distinctively San Diego vibe. Hmmmm.
After exploring a number of options, I settled on a 55 image composite. The background is a morning shot of the water on San Diego Bay reflecting the magenta colors of the clouds on the surface of the water. From there, I added a double helix as an image recognizable and associated with life science businesses.
Fused into the strands of the double helix are another 53 images of San Diego. There are surfers, beach scenes, the downtown skyline, volleyball players, military aircraft, ocotillo cactus, palm trees, zoo animals, boats, etc. The next image is a close up of one section.

The image blends so well from one iconic scene to the next. It really is amazing how much diversity of scenery and activity San Diego has to offer and putting this all together was truly a fun experience. I’m pretty sure the finished image, which I call SDDNA will draw in people’s attention as they study the myriad of images woven together to create the strand of live as we know it here in San Diego!
