The ocean is relaxing and soothing, right? Not always! Sometimes the ocean roars with anger and power as we recently witnessed this January. When she fully awakens, it is a thing of beauty and its time to shoot! And boy did January deliver with a set of gorgeous images.

With 30’+ swells hitting our coast, the show was amazing. Between the rain cells, the sun popped out and provided amazing light that brought out deep blues, greens, and even rainbows forming off the spray atop the crashing waves.

As with many events in life, it is sometimes hard to immediately appreciate what is happening around you and adjust your life and schedule to accommodate the opportunity. I am fortunate enough to live in close proximity to so many beautiful surf spots and began each non-rain day studying surf and wind forecasts to choose the location of the day’s outing. What a month it was!

Will the ocean awaken and reveal her energy again this month? Only time will tell, but trust me, I will be checking the forecast every morning with all my gear ready to go!
