By now you know my favorite color is blue: blue sky; blue ocean. But what happens when I take my toes out of the sand and venture to higher elevations? More blue than is reasonably imaginable! The clear air at altitude (8,000-10,000′)…

results in a shocking tone of blue sky. It reflects off deep alpine lakes that match the palette tone for tone. There is so much potential for amazing images that it is a photographer’s dream.

Sometimes the blue sky makes a surprise visit below your toes. Reflections abound, especially in the early morning light.

Even fledgling trees seem attracted to the astounding expanse of blue.

So what does all this blue mean? It means “ahhhhhh.” That’s right. An escape from urbana. No noise, no pollution, no lines, no honking; only gorgeous vistas filled by the most soothing of colors – BLUE! Summer is at its height and there is no better time to seek a soothing blue escape than right now. Get out there, go for a hike, soak up nature’s most gorgeous color and just say “ahhhhh!”
