Six years ago I was biking down the Strand between Coronado and Imperial Beach when I saw what I thought was a lawn ornament in the water. I chuckled to myself that someone had made quite an effort to play a prank. On my ride home, however, the lawn ornament had moved! Unbelievably, there was a living, wild flamingo in San Diego Bay!

Of course the locals named their pink flamingo Floyd. I was lucky enough to capture Floyd in full flight several years ago, and this image remains one of hot sellers from my on-line gallery.

Earlier this year I began to hear rumblings that Floyd had found a girlfriend. What? No way. I had to see for myself so this morning I packed up the long lens and went in search for our wayward wild flamingos.

Sure enough, these two lovebirds were working hard on a Monday brunch of whatever flamingos find to eat in our bay! They are certainly looking healthy and colorful! Their origins remain a mystery, but at least they are in this together now!
