Sunday marked another Paddle for Clean Water at OB; another community effort by Surfrider Foundation; another year in the long line of continual years of seeking a solution to the problems affecting our coastline…

Our beaches are a lifeline of our community and, at least in San Diego, largely define our lifestyle. Whether you surf, run the dog, walk the beach, or simply gaze at the sunset, you are connected to our ocean. That is reason alone to protect our waters from sewage, contamination, and bureaucratic failure.

Sunday was part alarm and part celebration. As we celebrate the sense of freedom the ocean brings, we also lament the millions of gallons of sewage streaming into the ocean at the southern border. I truly hope we can conquer this problem as soon as possible so everyone can enjoy oceanic freedom as personally defined.

So thank you Surfrider Foundation for keeping the pressure on!
