When I set out to help a client choose art for their home, there are two options. First, if they are in town, an in-home visit is the best way to quickly asses the options. Second, for out of town clients, I have them send a photo of the wall space they want to fill. With either option I then open up Photoshop, drop in their wall photo and start adding and subtracting different images until the best options are created.

This allows us to explore different sizes, combinations of pictures, frames (or no frames), color schemes and different subject matter. It requires a lot of give-and-take with the client to get a sense of when we are on the right path and then to really focus on that direction with a number of options.

When the right image for the space is found, we then discuss medium. I print on metal, glass, wood, and fine art paper. Each has its advantages and each fits better in different spaces. I like to have samples on hand to show in person or on a zoom call so my clients can really understand the subtle differences.

The end result is an image(s) that the client simply knows is “perfect” for their location. All of this is accomplished with no risk and no charge! If you would like to explore options for a space in your home, send me a picture of your wall and lets get the ball rolling! DerekEmgePhotography@gmail.com
